As a parent, I sought to break the system by helping my oldest son find external opps that would let him move past the default. It worked. Yet I don't know how we can convince parents to question whether the default high school and college system should be questioned.
All we have to do is convince parents to listen to their kids when they say "I'm bored and unhappy, and I don't want to keep doing this." But the system insists that you're a weak parent if you do this incredibly obvious, compassionate thing.

Most people aren't capable of developing their baseline passions so that work=play. Worse now that internet exists with its effortless ability to suck attention. Outside discipline is needed by most. Agree with experimentation but bored + unhappy isn't great metric for kids
