Maybe the most obvious but the least useful? Seems like we've made 0% progress towards creating intrinsic motivation – just have settled on the top .1% who have it pushing society forward

It's pretty useless information if you insist on shuttling kids through a daily battery of short lecture-based classes within which their behavior is tightly controlled, yes. There has never been any evidence that this is an effective way to develop genuine interest

IMO no inspiration needed. Leave kids to their own devices and self directed learning, otherwise know as curiosity, will take the lead.
