A dangerous ideological opponent compels you to defend your house without cleaning it. That's a pretty useful thing. When you squint at the people who say you're going to "let [the outgroup] win," they often look suspiciously like free-riding dustbunnies

Stay out of groups with ideological purity tests that they actually take seriously... as
