I think the first step is admitting that secular culture is (largely) really, really bad at raising *adults*, and probably getting worse

I have literally seen better done in Japanese pre-schools than in the mainline experience of American adults. ("Welcome to the school new 3 year olds. 4 year olds: meet the 3 year olds. From today forth they are your responsibility.")
