I hope... not at all essential? Because I’d love to figure out ways to duplicate a firm support structure + some significant degree of necessary trust in young adults w/o any dogmatic elements
It seems you need a strong top-down force to get people to grow like that. Some people will voluntarily do peace corps or teach for America, but not most. What other top-down options are there other than gov (conscription) or god?
Possibly really strong, supportive (+ extended) families?
