Older apps were built around data collection + analysis, the idea that a secret sauce algorithm could turn low-res personal quizzes into perfect matches Newer apps are... Tinder. Just, ugh I'd like to see a framework for intentional networks of friend-matchmakers

I've been thinking along the same lines lately: started reading "Pride and Prejudice", and my second thought was that, in this case, replacing the middlefolk with algorithms was a serious mistake.

I’m surprised there aren’t more niche dating apps though I’ve seen a couple ( I recently say one for those whose lives are oriented around “mindfulness”). I get the savage efficiency of dating apps for meeting new people, but I generally think your best bet is looking IRL

Makes me wonder if a dating app could work if it began by asking people to answer questions posed by others; then anyone the asker finds interesting could be promoted to profile-sharing level, and then to image-sharing level. Do any current apps lead with worldview matches first?
