It would be expensive, too. Because the makers of a service like this would know that the target consumer was so disillusioned by the futility of their own attempts to solve the problem that a real solution would be priceless to them.

It *has* to be "reassuringly expensive" so that you can be confident that the service has an incentive to find you one long-term match rather than a series of unsatisfactory ones that keep you paying for the monthly subscription.
