The European Court of Human Rights straight-up called a "right of others to have their religious feelings protected." Just like what are you doinghttps://twitter.com/AmarAmarasingam/status/1055522513042714625 …

I am genuinely entranced by the hoop-jumping required to justify fining a woman €480 for implying Muhammed was a pedophile just because he had sex with a childpic.twitter.com/gseRjEvQfM

Am I missing something here? Because it sure seems like the court is saying that taking a child bride doesn't imply pedophilic tendencies unless followed up by... divorce? abandonment?... when the child turns 18. Which would be work-of-art level stupid.

I support American style freedom of expression. But the Austrian law was enacted not to protect Muslims but the Catholic Church.

I presume you are OK with someone saying that Christ was a bastard and Mary was an adulterer because obviously the Virgin birth is nonsense?

Look I believe in American style freedom of expression. I don't believe in hate speech laws like in Europe. But don't be an idiot. Read up about the Austrian law in question here.

The appeal to the EU HRC was because they claimed Austrian law violated EU constitutional rights. The Austrian law is an old law that predates recent Muslim immigration to Europe and was probably setup to please the Catholic Church.
