A wide social network with many kinds of friends & levels of closeness
A very small close circle & a larger network of sometimes hang-outs
A very small close circle & that's basically it

For me - any close relationship is worth more than any number of casual ones. But new close relationships tend to improve the ones you already have - so I feel one should keep all the channels that allow you to find new people wide open. Hence the "blue" option.
White was definitely not intended to mean “you never meet new people,” only that you prefer to only meet people who have the potential to be a close friend
