I don't think team sports are an adequate replacement for "kid society" (my term for unsupervised, organic kid packs), but I've got nothing against them except insofar as they cause head injuries disproportionately to other things humans can do. All for fixing that, but good luck

I think your second "belief" there is a consequence of something deeper. Namely - your first. By "organised" don't you mean compulsory or coerced? We shouldn't coerce (is the moral principle). If we did that, then such "bans" wouldn't be necessary. Indeed they'd *be* coercive!

Sorta? Free play among children doesn't seem to cause as much consistent damage to the head as many team sports, and this may have something to do w/ kids not loving the feel of injuries that cause brain damage & therefore not generating rules that cause that to happen a bunch

You are overestimating concussion risk in most kid's sports. I played basketball, baseball, and soccer and concussions were a non-issue. I did grow up unsupervised and got one major concussion slipping off a rope swing. Organized sports is super helpful for mental health.

yeah which sports have a concussion risk? I've heard football and high-level soccer where kids head the ball a lot (99% of soccer players never execute a header or even try) but have never heard this about anything else.....

Football, hockey, lacrosse, rugby — organized full-contact sports shouldn't be banned, but they certainly can/should be modified for kids. The epitome of athletic and mortal danger is martial arts, and that dimension of humanity should not be ignored

What. Just ban football and boxing and ban heading the ball in soccer and you're fine
-
Also ban being tall, anyone over 6 ft is at permanent risk of hitting head on damn near everything.

I’ve played all contact sports to a high level for most of my life and the only sport I got a concussion while playing was the head bashing game of football.
