The max welfare + rights definition (or something functionally equivalent) has shown up more in the moral and moral uncertainty philosophy material coming out of Oxford, but is too technical and sterile to spread that widely.
And yet... Tyler just wrote an entire book about it that is no less accessible than any of the core EA texts.

Tyler's book is substantially less accessible than Doing Good Better. I wish we had done more philosophically sophisticated content from the outset, but that's the benefit of hindsight. Will's forthcoming books will be less general audience focus.

I disagree — I think some of the ideas are more likely to hit tribal nerves, but they’re not more difficult to understand and he does an excellent job of providing context for those (like this reader) who have essentially no familiarity with the subject matter
