Stubborn Attachments by @tylercowen IS OUT(!) This book finally knocked loose, with minimal pain, an ever-wiggling concern that Effective Altruism may only be part of the grand human story (though a critical one). https://smile.amazon.com/Stubborn-Attachments-Prosperous-Responsible-Individuals/dp/1732265135/ …

A more fundamental question is: what does EA recommend in cases where the most effective thing isn't altruistic?https://twitter.com/HumanProgress/status/1052850035673759744 …

And what if those are Effectively all cases?

Hm, is it a sample issue? EA circles that I frequent don't put remotely such emphasis on redistribution. I think inequality is a negative externality (somewhat), but many in my sample would associate redistribution with INeffective altruism.

How are you defining "redistribution"?

I don't think that's right. From the beginning in EA there's been a debate about whether bed nets / deworming / etc do the most to promote economic growth. It has been a major concern. Those who are skeptical of that often turn to policy reform or migration instead.
