The idea that “too much” wealth/value creation is a bad thing is a bug the political left needs to patch ASAP. Sustainability matters — it’s possible to borrow against the future at a bad rate — but slow growth (or even regression) as a political aesthetic is super concerning

You think so; I disagree; so far our disputes on that haven't made much progress. But either way, my point is a little off to the side: the typical rightist these days deemphasizes the priority of investing in education *of any kind* (compared to, say, military investment.)

Someone who said "I think you're doing education all wrong; let me pay the same amount of money to do it *this* way" would not, imo, be sacrificing the future. Instead the right says, "your results suck; we can pay less to get the same results." They want to free up the money.
