AFAICT: there's a large group of people who think doing anything is better than doing nothing, + a tiny 2nd group who think determining net effects is sufficiently difficult that you should refrain from doing anything *big*, & IMO nearly all members of both are in the wrong group

"DO SOMETHING!" is one of the most annoying progressive refrains. Like, would someone demand that of their doctor? Just have him toss on some leeches or pee on the wound to satisfy the need for action?
