How, though? Realistically people do have the ability to punish others. I think that with discipline and fortitude you can step outside yourself and avoid internalizing it, in true Stoic fashion. But the reality of the situation is still there.

I think this is very, very difficult to do, & much easier to believe you’ve done, particularly when you want something from the people you know are not good influences on you. I think it’s usually better to make pretty significant sacrifices to surround yourself w/ great people
