Hmm, that's making me think quite a bit. It's definitely not the point I perceive in diversity efforts, if anything those try to make a certain group take note of opinions they wouldn't otherwise consider. This could be a big problem.

Hopefully she takes her group as a stable core from which she goes off to explore, because lacking that can be pretty difficult too. The fact that certain groups don't have such a core is what diversity efforts aim to remedy IMO.

I take the general point, but as a graduate of Wesleyan *University*, ‘conservative’ here is likely shorthand for ‘would fit in at most college campuses.’ Fraternities occupy the bottom rung of the social hierarchy there

I think it's a valid and interesting point. However, she is still being exposed to other ideas. It would be interesting to study recent alumni to get a better sense of the actual outcome.
