Life is computationally irreducible. We have been doing this already for millions of years through natural selection. Designer humans, rather than humans born out of love, are subject to the tyranny of their creator

To create a more human society we need to become more human ourselves

What are the traits of a generalist?

Like, the spear-throwing thing *seems* clever, until you consider that maybe there aren’t so much “spear-throwing genes” as there are genes for things like dexterity and intelligence, which are pretty generally useful

Do you have any evidence that there are environments where dumber organisms perform better, or that intelligence trades off against any other useful trait? Like, what it actually trades off against is energy conservation, which is a thoroughly solved problem

Doesn’t really matter. We’ve used our intelligence to increase by many orders of magnitude the number of humans that can be supported by the calories available to us; the surplus itself has become our chief health problem!
