Tonight a friend told me about a teacher who was *bragging* about lying to her young students about class materials that were expensive & difficult to replace, saying they were only sold in ONE store in the entire country & now sold out FOREVER. How often we lie to children!

counterintuitively, wondering whether it's a good lesson to learn early not to be too trusting. of course, one has to first be smart enough to spot and contextualize deception. yet realizing they've been tricked possibly contributed to their brilliance.
