Help me out, Twitter: I've been invited to "teach a class" (I think I have a lot of leeway over format, but it will be 1-2 sessions/week) at a small school for highly gifted children. Which non-standard subjects/projects/formats would be fun to play with?
I really like this idea, but I wouldn't know where to start! Are there good kits/planning resources?

This looks about the right complexity for a class: http://www.projectclock.org . Depending on time you could get some pieces pre-cut for the kids. Fun followup project: calibration.

So many connections to make here - timekeeping as the enabler of longitudinal navigation in the 18th century, craftsmanship, materials, artistry, jewelry, modern production techniques up to 3D printing, competitve advantage of trade (Swiss watch cluster)... etc.
