Interesting phenomenon: I often hear the concern that most kids can't cut it in an environment that makes space for intensive, self-directed projects; that's a "smart kid" thing. And the assumption seems to be that the "smart kids" are the ones who do well w/ "memorize & test."

My big complaint on schools is they teach kids that naturally test well to be lazy and kids that don’t that learning is memorization. Nobody is served by them.
