When I went to college, I had a room with little more space than that. Shared bathrooms with stalls divided only by curtains; at one point a girl showering next to me passed out and fell onto me through the curtain. More expensive than a studio apartment.
(Shared room; had a roommate I absolutely loathed, until I brought a [prohibited] pet snake home. She demanded to be moved; I had to do a community service project. A good deal for me.)
