The most amazing thing about school is that - if the situation is right - everyone will readily acknowledge that 1. children hate it and 2. nobody learns anything there. And they will still send their children there and make them do homework regardless.

We know that (a) students remember ~nothing, and (b — consequently) even very successful adults almost always fail the standardized tests we use to lock many kids out of future opportunity. And we know that even if rote memorization worked, a web-enabled world doesn't need it to.
