Honestly, everyone wants to talk to me 'bout tradeoffs in education when the "gold standard" for both early & higher education is so far from the curve where tradeoffs have to occur that I want to scream

The silver lining of these horrible debts is that at least they seem to be the driver of people noticing many other problems with education and ways people get hurt by it. In Europe, with everything socialised, there basically are no public discussions about that.

Incidentally, what do you think about the way maths is taught? I've the feeling like they teach it as though there are a certain number of 'mathematical facts' called theorems, and when you learn all of those, you can do maths.
