you are correct In fact, the only thing anyone ever needed to do to peel off the majority of scared people huddling together in identity activism was to tone down the actual bigotry just like say 20%. just a little It's spectacular how hard it's been for anyone to pull that off

as it happens I think rationalism is most of the way there but, like, for example, scott alexander left a comment on free northerner's blog in 2013 that said "as it happens, i'm a bit racist myself" if he could have just gone with "none racist" instead. if only

now obviously one can completely reject scott on race and still call oneself a rationalist, and I could do that if i wanted but it's still a very complicated thing to signal, and you can only have so many disagreements before you're really on the outside looking in

Anyway I'd probably bet on some "apolitical"/polypolitical subset of weeb/neet culture winning this race, at least for trans women. And in general shared-interest groups gradually displacing strictly political ones. Everyone's just very tired and wants to breathe and enjoy things

Tbh my political perspective is based on my belief that people mostly just want permission to be and do as they feel, get some help when they genuinely & desperately need it, and have some real options for generating meaning in their lives. That’s basically it

Yeah, indeed. Given several months, I could start with similar axioms, insert a few of my best guesses about our world-state, and end up with something very much resembling intersectional feminism. Some of my friends share the conclusion, but I think they all share the path.
