Hm. Is that good or bad though? Probably depends on the actions being absolved. Is this absolution why such harmful behaviors/bad actors persist in religious systems like the Catholic Church?

Yes, I think so. But on the other side, you have a lot of people saying that what they want is empowerment when what they really need is reassurance and acceptance. Empowerment is too scary. It’s tough to juggle.
