The goal here would be low-friction empathy-building, where no one is being asked to accept any political axiom/responsibility before they can experience a genuine hurt through the eyes of someone different from themselves

This can be accomplished in existing platforms , what is needed are willing participants with such mindset and intentions, which as you describe are great. Technology can’t enforce an open mind.
