Regardless, it would be terrifying to believe even for a minute that I was about to watch someone jump to his death. Surely there's some point at which it becomes unacceptable to steal this kind of attention, whatever the intention may have been.

Or the inverse: by seeing these statues everywhere, people could become inured to suicide via desensitization. Either way, it seems like the negatives outweigh any intended upsides.
