The mistake is that people think that following some track somebody designed automatically leads to a good place. Many people follow such tracks and then years later realise they don't like where they are and *don't even know what they were expecting to get anyway*.
Yes Matjaz! That’s what I was trying to get at — unfortunately w/ much less clarity. Poking around sans a north star can be a great idea, but self-awareness & an eye for checkpoints is crucial, or you might find the walls rising around a track toward coordinates you didn’t choose
I have often had the impression there is some relationship between this misconception and the idea that sales and marketing don't matter. In both cases people are sort of waiting for other people to do something without realising they should be causing them to do the "something".
