IMO, this is cutting reality at all the wrong joints, and the ultimate result is what we’ve got — pseudo-creativity as a performance for gold stars, and a pervasive absence of actual curiosity & fun that people genuinely believe is either a virtue or an inevitability

Leading a horse to water can’t guarantee it’ll drink, but forcing its head under the surface and shouting “DRINK!” will serve even worse. The world is full of thirsty horses with wet heads who now won’t go anywhere near water unless forced. More head-dunking is not the solution.
