On similar subject, good test to do before buying things is to ask if it is something "I want to own" or something "I need to use". If former then don't buy. If latter then honestly spend 5min trying to find alternative solution before spending money.

Going further, the things you don’t really want, but tell yourself that you do, are essential for a balanced self-image

Some desires are specific to one’s situation. I don’t want others living at my house, or pursuing things which may only be fun for me, given my history. Maybe instead of looking at what you want but don’t endorse, look at what you want or do that you wish to remain secret.

I just bought a motorcycle which I tell people not to buy and also I would never recommend anyone own two vehicles so.
