First real shader-coding stream of the new year, and we're back - thank you everyone that popped in to watch <3 This time playing with geometry very heavily inspired by an Escher piece.

Who wants to help me with a startup? We're going to use a LWW CRDT to determine which libraries to use next. That way, we're guaranteed to stay on the bleeding edge.

Currently building up a multi-month long commit that implements the entire server-side of an app and I'm pretty confident I've got this git thing nailed down now.

We just published fuse-native, - a n-api and prebuild backed binding to libfuse with multithread support. Comes with all shared libs vendored so no 3rd party installs needed 👌

There's so many new technologies which are making it easier: - server functions - git deploys - Auth0 - Cloud hosting is just easier in general But even with all those new technologies it's still hard to imagine someone new coming into all this.

I've been building a personal project with a traditional backend for the first time in a long time. It's coming along great! But it's been a harsh reminder of how much effort it still takes to have a private, persistent store on the web.

Haa in the talk that this article is partly based on I had this slide (maybe that's the one I should put in the article ^^)

Screen of my slide "Do not demande permission on page load" with clapping hands, plus "this is the slide you need to take a picture of" as sticker

Client-side rendering not only made it easier to work with dynamic UIs, but drove a CLEAR line between the client-side context and the server-side. It makes it much easier to reason about imo.

I'm pretty confident that the only reason it made any sense to me when I was learning it was because the server-side was in one programming language (ruby), and the client-side was in a completely different language (js).
