I think executives struggle with how to process/calculate the value of these things. I think they intuit the opportunity and have no idea how to make them work.

They process and calculate to talk themselves out of it, not to justify it. And that's why they waste time calculating math with a number of unknown variables. They want a fool proof plan and there isn't one.

I really like this thought, Web. It’s exactly what actual creators say when they give away their process for free. “I’ll tell you exactly how to do it, but I know you won’t put in the work, so I’m not worried about it.”

That’s exactly the point. The road is paved with people who stopped at 5-10-15 attempts.

Here’s the thing about statements like this: they tend to undermine all the professional and technical writers, editors, directors, sound engineers and producers who *want* to do this work and are finding it really difficult to get anyone to pay them for this work.

I'm sorry that folks aren't typically great at marketing their abilities. As for operators, it's just practice and repetition. None of it is rocket science.
