Can you explain to a layperson what we're looking at here? Which part is pyrocumulus, and the gravity waves.. theyre visible? TIA
Apologies for alow response... pyrocumulus are the white things embedded in the plumes. They form when heat from fires is intense enough to create fast rising air & clouds. Normal cumulus can be seen in the top-left half. Gravity waves also form due to the fast rising air...
Oh no. The rain didn't help?
In some areas it helped ease conditions temporarily, but ambient temps are climbing above 40°C (104°F) in many areas across SE Australia today and tomorrow. Fires around Canberra are burning where crews have no road access.
Was really hoping they get a handle on these
It's not about that. The whole East Coast is a tinderbox. This bushfire season will remain entirely reactionary because we can't manage anything more than that in these conditions
The Australian government is a cabal of climate criminals. They have known what would happen and acted contrary to the interests of the people. Whilst taking money from big coal and oil #ClimateCriminals
