It usually simply does not matter. The possibility of tampering with forensic evidence is unpleasant but – without evidence for actual tampering – not effective in criminal proceedings.
Is this the one where the imaging software can compromise the server?
I'm sure that's partly the case. And perhaps also partly because (please correct me if I'm wrong) it's never occured yet in a real case.
I’m definitely interested in the issues - makes sense forensic software has vulnerabilities that could affect data- problem is (for me anyway) understanding what they are.
