Critical Firmware Upgrade Required for Certain HPE SAS Solid State Drive Models to Prevent Drive Failure at 40,000 Hours of Operation https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docLocale=en_US&docId=a00097382en_us …
Right. But HPE doesn't manufacture SSDs. I guess HPE themselves splat their own value-add firmware on a drive made by somebody else? And the reason that the drive manufacturer contacted HPE is perhaps because the manufacturer was getting support calls??

Yes hpe not manufacturing ssd but customized firmware and i think this is the issue.. Some bug inside customized firmware not related to ssd itself (maybe Intel ssd But it's a guess)

“issue is not unique to HPE and potentially affects all customers that purchased these drives.” HPE has not identified the SSD maker and refused to do so, saying: “We’re not confirming manufacturers.”
