@danielgilman Some crosswalks in Pittsburgh chirp when it's safe to walk, while others chirp when it's UNsafe to walk. This seems like a safety hazard, but also easy to fix, no?

chirping should only be when it is a safe all walk. If something else is happening then its broken. Which intersection is chirping at the wrong time

Got it. Two different sounds. The one in this video is the audible detector that helps the visually impaired located the walk push button. The safe to walk sound is a different and louder sound

Yes, they are a bit of a different beep. But for somebody not paying close attention, I could imagine them confusing one for the other. This has absolutely happened to at least one of my coworkers. Seems like a major oversight on the part of the vendors making the signs...
