I shouldn’t need a redirect outside my home network to log into my router. It’s like going to the supermarket to check on my fridge! If I didn’t loathe Comcast with the fire of a thousand suns....

The thing is, it doesn't actually redirect you elsewhere. All fios gateways resolve http://myfiosgateway.com to your *local* device. But the local device doesn't have a CA-issued HTTPS certificate/key pair for http://myfiosgateway.com , so users have to accept a self-signed cert.

the cert doesn't even mention Verizon. Just blindly click proceed and then accept the risk if you want to log into the router downstairs =/pic.twitter.com/Iv96QvH4jl
