Every day when I drive home at night, I pass 4 or 5 cars on the highway with their headlights off -new enough to have automatic headlights. What’s an automation technology that was supposed to make human lives better that you believe made people less attentive, safe, or secure?

"auto locking doors" People are less attentive in other aspects where auto-locking doesn't exist.

On Cars as a start. We have on car that auto-locks (now disabled) and one that doesn't. Easy to forget juggling kids and life that car should auto-lock. This then transfer to other parts of life (laptop/door/phone)

I had a rental car once that had sort of the opposite problem: Auto unlocking doors. Being one who like to verify things, I was unable to confirm that the car was locked. If the keys were in my pocket, the door would always open when I lift the handle, regardless of lock state.
