This is why the manifestation of memory UB on my kernel will be untrappable abnormal exit, not a catchable signal. 
I wonder how many otherwise-legit apps catch SIGSEGV and friends? like, about the same as mmap the 0 page maybe?
Wireshark, at least a few years ago, would catch EIP = 0x41414141 in dissector threads then just terminate the dissector thread and report an error to the console so the whole thing didn't fall over and stop a capture.
Indeed. If you fail to set the WIRESHARK_ABORT_ON_DISSECTOR_BUG environment variable, you're likely to not have a very fruitful fuzzing campaign with the Wireshark code.
Though now that I look at it further, the WIRESHARK_ABORT_ON_DISSECTOR_BUG seems to be for explicit DISSECTOR_ASSERT() calls for things that it wants to bail on. It doesn't seem that things like access violations in dissectors are caught or handled in a way that they're not seen.
