On a general purpose OS in which application whitelisting is not enforced, the purpose of code signing in _actual_ practice is what? My observation is that it serves as a convenient thing that simply gives license to scrutinize code less or am I missing something? 1/2

And I don't fault the user one bit! Through what means do they have to confidently investigate and navigate around a code signing anomaly should they even have such a desire in the first place?
