That would depend on whether iOS uses a timer to enforce this timeout, or whether it's doing math based on the system clock. Even if it is system clock math, you'd need a way to force the device to update its clock more than once per hour. My hunch: timer. But not confirmed.

We already know from iOS 7 onward that it checks network time during the boot process and will override local machine time unless user deselected that option. do you remember the date crash bug?
