zfs does stripe both writes and reads across all drives, as expected. The default overall throughput per drive is not as fast, though. So in this case, zfs gives faster sequential writes, but slower sequential reads on Linux. RAID behavior/perf seems very implementation specificpic.twitter.com/oD22w0EOti
Riddle solved! The crummy 4-drive USB-3.0-connected bay will apparently not allow concurrent writes to more than one drive at a time.
