Some people I know only navigate by search. Their expert skill is finding a small string that's discriminatory for the desired spot, then "Ctrl+S <string>" and you're there.

See also vim's EasyMotion/Emacs' avy-mode: type the first 1-2 letters at the spot you want to go & it overlays unique short labels on every matching spot. Then you type the label to jump to. 4-6 strokes to get anywhere on screen.https://github.com/abo-abo/avy
