It’s really hard to push this feeling down as irrational when I know that it’s LITERALLY 10x harder to become a PhD student in something popular than it is to be one in PL.

Part of the reason I picked PL / HCI is because there's so few people working here, it's easier to feel like I can bring something totally unique to the community. I've now seen a bit of ML, systems, graphics, PL, and HCI over my PhD. The smallest communities are the best!
