Is there an equivalent of Amdahl's law but for HCI? Like, the overall efficacy of an improvement for a user is bounded by the frequency with which the improvement is applicable.

Not everything is always so cleanly decomposable. If a particular tool makes a strategy easier, maybe a developer would choose to do it more and learn something new, making another task easier. Joel Brandt's Blueprint tool started to explore that line of thinking.
