Can anyone point me at entry-level resources on how to design/implement type-systems? I have seen a lot of the "classic" recommendation (academic textbooks) but I'd be interested in adding some practical/hands-on reference to my reading list.

My resources are useful if you want to embed a type system within a host language, e.g. a state machine (http://cs242.stanford.edu/f19/lectures/08-2-typestate …) or a communication protocol (http://cs242.stanford.edu/f19/lectures/09-1-session-types …).
