      I use desktop notifications for this. Turns a pull model (keeping terminal open to see if it's done) into a push model (being notified when it's done). $ rustup update; msg "rustup done"pic.twitter.com/ohCFj20ERE

      I even built a whole system for passing these notifications from a remote redis instance to my laptop so I could get notified for completion of Kubernetes jobs and such. http://github.com/willcrichton/notifier …

      Although, sadly, turns out publicly exposing unsecure redis instances is a bad idea. People were somehow able to run bitcoin miners on all our GCE instances.
