I even built a whole system for passing these notifications from a remote redis instance to my laptop so I could get notified for completion of Kubernetes jobs and such. http://github.com/willcrichton/notifier …

Although, sadly, turns out publicly exposing unsecure redis instances is a bad idea. People were somehow able to run bitcoin miners on all our GCE instances.
