Ah, yes, that is very much similar. We're in concordance. I've had trouble finding DB education literature on these kinds of issues, which is mind-boggling (and presumably reflective of my inability to find literature).

I learned most of my "data modeling" on the job. That seems to be how most people have learned it (and being told that "third normal form" is good), and also how most people seem to learn API design. 1/2
