Shockingly enough, the paper has a related work section. (-: But short answer: no. There's a little bit of (mostly not very strong) work in model-driven software engineering: eg, the MODELS conference has an education event.

Heh, yes, I asked b/c I didn't see anything in the related work, but wasn't sure if that was just b/c of the CSE theme. Also, the question y'all asked is essentially SQL vs. MongoDB right? Feels like there'd be huge value in quantifying the usability of each model.
