Just listened to a pitch from a Logo remix company (PolyUp). To say “it’s not code, it’s MATH” while invoking Papert in the same breath is just... incredible.

I assume this comes from a deep seated anxiety in edtech about appearing like a programming platform, because coding is scary. Deeply ironic that companies avoid codephobia by claiming to be a math product, considering Papert’s mathphobia ideology.

The product is actually a really good idea, and I hope it succeeds. But it’s 100% not informed by a clear vision of how children learn or how programming can reframe learning. It just rides the coattails of greater thinkers.
